Your System Is Finding Its Feet — And That's Perfectly Normal

Congratulations on your new Origin Aqua system!
The first 4-6 weeks after installation is what we call the maturation period — the time it takes for your system's biological balance to fully establish itself. Things may not look perfect straight away, and that's completely expected.
This article walks you through what you might notice during this period, and what you can do to help things along.
What You Might See
Some Cloudiness or Surface Films
In the early weeks, you may notice your water looks slightly cloudy, or that a light film appears on the surface from time to time. This is a normal part of the maturation process as the system establishes its biological balance. It isn't a sign that something has gone wrong.
Debris in the Water
Even after the most careful installation, small amounts of fine dust, particles or floculant residue can remain in the water. Your installer may carry out an initial flocculation treatment — a process that helps bind fine particles together so they can be removed more easily. This is perfectly routine.
More Frequent Brushing Required
During maturation, you'll need to brush your pool surfaces more regularly than you will once the system is fully established. This helps dislodge any settled particles and keeps water moving across all surfaces.
What You Should Do During This Period
-
Keep up with brushing — more than usual, but not forever
-
Keep the pool covered when not in use
-
Avoid introducing raw tap water directly into the pool (see our guide on Why Tap Water Should Never Go Directly Into Your Pool)
-
Be patient — the maturation period is doing important work, even when the water doesn't look its best
When Will It Look Perfect?
Most pools reach full clarity and biological stability within 6 weeks of commissioning.
If you have any concerns during the maturation period, don't hesitate to get in touch. We'd always rather you reach out early than worry in silence.
